PROFILE

For over 30 years, Stephen Baumbach has been involved in all aspects of
photography. He has taught in the classroom and workshop settings, and
captured various types of images from rodeos to architectural design; and exhibited in several one man shows in Wyoming, Colorado, Vermont,
California and Massachusetts.

In 2005, Stephen was literally dragged into the digital world thinking that, as a purist, nothing would ever compare to film. He was wrong.
Today he makes all of his photographs digitally and prints the finished product himself. Stephen approaches everything as though he was looking
at it for the first time and treats the subject matter with an energy that is reflected in his work. He is always looking at new ways of
presenting the ordinary or familiar.

Building on the '06 and '07 portfolios from Vermont, Shanghai, San Francisco and the Mojave Desert; 2008 saw new portfolios made of images from the desert southwest, Lake Mead Upper Basin and Death Valley.

2009 found Stephen joining a collaborative effort in sharing a studio with another photographer. This has allowed him to explore portrait
photography. Immersing himself into the world of light, Stephen has honed his abilities in high key, dramatic and special affects imaging. Two series were born from three months of daily shooting: Flyer and Sheets, soon to posted the website.

Additionally, he presented his art in Boston exhibitions at the South End Open Studios which garnered rave reviews, and in a juried
event at the Harriet Tubman House Museum. A new portfolio was born named 1646, a new look at the southern desert country of California that includes scenes from Joshua National Park, Trona, Death Valley and Anza Borrego.

2010 plans for Boston exhibitions at Fidelity Investments, and for the Art Connections Series, at City Hall.

He will be exhibiting at OKW Fine Clothing & Gallery on Tremont Street in the South End from February 19th through April 7th 2010, and at Arts Night Out, an event hosted by Northampton art spaces to promote creative works and community.

Stephen will to build new portfolios from his studio work as well as continuing his work with local design firms and their clients to bring
his images into their home designs, remodeling projects and corporate
offices.

Stephen is available for commission and portrait work. Please contact him via email for more information.
